Albert Johansson
Albert Karl Johan Johansson was born in 1926 in Stensele in Västerbotten and was a Swedish painter, draftsman, and graphic artist.
Johansson first studied at Isaac Grünewald’s painting school and then for Vilhelm Bjerke Petersen, Esaias Thorén, and Iván Grünewald at the Modern Art School in Stockholm.
Albert Johansson was initially influenced by surrealism but eventually transitioned to a more non-figurative painting style.
In the beginning, he created simplified drawing paintings in muted tones, later moving on to symbolic representations with figurative elements and mask reliefs.
He also experimented with combinations of canvas and materials, with several works executed in concrete putty and glue paint.
Johansson is represented in, among other places, the Gothenburg Museum of Art and the National Museum in Stockholm.
Albert sadly passed away in 1998.
