Sandra Rojo Picón
Sandra Rojo Picón, born in Madrid in 1985, is a Spanish artist whose work seamlessly blends her background in fashion design with her passion for painting. In 2004, she moved to London to pursue studies in fashion design, completing both a Foundation course and a BA at the London College of Fashion, followed by an MA specializing in Women’s Wear.
Her eight-year tenure in London significantly influenced her character and aesthetics, infusing her work with a distinctive humor. Sandra’s artistic expression is a constant quest for beauty, drawing inspiration from film, art, fashion, and nature—particularly flowers, which captivate her due to their ephemeral and delicate nature.
Sandra’s education in fashion plays a pivotal role in her artistic language, allowing her to analyze and convey essential traits that define the character and context of her subjects. One of her recurring themes is the light and skies of Madrid, which she often portrays through studies of clouds with varying textures and tones, imparting her work with a unique “Pop Oniric” quality.
In 2024, Sandra held her first solo exhibition titled “A cualquier otra parte” at the Utopia Parkway gallery in Madrid. This exhibition marked a significant milestone in her career, showcasing her ability to convey emotion and a sense of kindness through her art. Sandra aims to create accessible art that accompanies individuals in their daily lives, reflecting her philosophy of painting from the heart.
“My objective is to fill rooms with beauty. A beauty with depth, so it will last.
I’d like to think of my work as conceptual but communicated in a language that everyone knows, universal.
It’s like a dream in which I take you by the hand to all of my favourite and unusual places and share them with you so you can love them as much as I do.”
Her works have been featured in various exhibitions, including Art Madrid’25, where she presented pieces that exemplify her distinctive style and thematic focus.
Sandra Rojo Picón continues to explore the interplay between fashion and art, creating pieces that resonate with viewers through their emotional depth and aesthetic appeal.
